Eleanor Roosevelt.

Do you even know how f*cking inspiring, revolutionary, strong willed & good spirited Eleanor Roosevelt was?  I had a holy shit moment while reading Kelly Cutrone's second book 'Normal Gets You Nowhere'.  She was mentioning all the phenomenal achievements Eleanor attained throughout her life.  I don't understand why she doesn't have a dollar bill out there with her face on it.  They should replace the Statue of Liberty's face with Eleanor's.

Can you imagine your husband having an affair, but still having your shit together?  She was rarely in the White House with her husband, her focus was on civil rights and equal rights for all.  I suggest you read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I could go on and on about how much I appreciate this woman, but I believe there is something called 'google' and you need to see for yourself how fantastic this woman is.  So for now, enjoy some pictures and quotes.

"No matter how plain a woman may be if truth and loyalty are stamped upon her face all will be attracted to her."

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

“A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it's in hot water.”

“Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life.”

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

“Remember always that you have not only the right to be an individual; you have an obligation to be one. You cannot make any useful contribution in life unless you do this.”

Back Stabbin' Betty

My outfit title posts are going to have no specific meaning, they're just random song titles or lyrics that pop into my head.  I'm weird.

Is there such a thing as too much silver?  No?..didn't think so.  I picked up this metallic shirt from my local-ish goodwill.  I'm always drawn to into prints/SEQUINS(holy shit I love sequins/glitter)/textures. Click one of the pictures to see how beautiful this shirt is up close.

An open love letter..to my favorite bloggers

This is an open love letter to my favorite bloggers out there.  I just want to say that I love you all!  From your personal style, to your funny videos, to your intelligent blog posts that actually require people to use their brains before leaving an ignorant comment(most of the times).

It's bloggers like you that give me inspiration to wear whatever I like & not worry about the constant looks I get(there are other reasons why I'm constantly stared at..but that's a whole other story).

For years I've constantly had this little voice in the back in my head that would be so concerned about what people think of me just based on my choice of clothing.  I think this past year or so I have gotten out of that rut.

I can honestly thank you guys because you've put the confidence in myself to "let my freak flag fly" & march to the beat of my own drum.  I've always had that mentality, but never followed through with it.  Now I could care less about the latest trend, and what was "so last year".

I live in a place where 99% of the population is all about the trends, and making fun of people who don't dress like "the norm".  Northface, UGGs, Forever 21 dresses, repeat.  A lot of people in this area don't experiment with their clothes, or wear a fist full of rings & velvet leggings.  If you do, you are looked at like you have 10 arms and 4 eyes.

To escape this constant uninspiredness(yes I made up a word) I go to your blogs. You guys inspire me to take more risks when it comes to my own wardrobe.  So this is my little thank you to you guys for being true individuals, good spirited, intelligent, beautiful & inspiring women!

(Here's a list of bloggers that seriously inspire me so much.. I am so thankful for their existence!)

Poncho Love.

You can't go wrong with a poncho, feelin' extra chubby today?  Throw on the poncho!  Got nothing to wear?  Throw on the poncho!  I could go on and on about the simple throw and go appeal of a poncho.

I got this little beauty from this Etsy shop .  You all should follow Casey's blog as well, her personal style is phenomenal.

Once I saw it, I knew it was meant to live in my closet...and on my body forrrreverrrrr.  And of course the minute it came in the mail I threw it on & never wanted to take it off again.

How is someone truly fashion-able?/Intro

What exactly is fashion, and how do I become "fashion-able"?
PART ONE

Is that boy or girl who is up to date on the latest trends fashion-able?  Or is it the boy or girl down the street that follows the beat to his or her own drum & wears whatever the hell he or she wants the real fashion-able one.

The people who are always up to date on trends without showing true individuality, are they fashion-able?  Isn't fashion about being unique and different?   Or is it about staying up to date on current trends, or is it all the above? Are we all fashion-able?(I put the hyphen in there intentionally, obviously to break up the word.)

Fashion is such a mysterious thing, it welcomes true individuals, and then it welcomes constant ridicule and judgement.  It blows my mind that people can be judged so harshly just on what they wear.  Television shows like Fashion Police are always mocking "celebrities" who take risks and praise those who play it safe with the trends.  Who's to say that the "celebrity" that wore a rainbow catsuit isn't fashion-able and deserves to be put down for something that showed their true individuality.

I cannot stand when a girl makes fun of another girl just because of her appearance.  You have no right to ridicule someone just because they are different from you, it just shows off your ignorance.

How can a person take pride in making fun of someone with rainbow colored hair, tattoos everywhere, & a 90's style of dressing?  Are they jealous that they don't have the courage to dress how they truly want?

I have been saying this for the longest time that everyone just needs to let their freak flag fly!  Fashion is fun, play with prints, textures, & silhouettes until your heart bursts!  To those who give you strange looks, see it as a compliment.  Who the fuck wants to be normal?  What is "normal"?

Let this quote soak into your brain & open up your heart.  I got it from this amazing blogger Brit Nason (if you don't follow her blog & follow her twitter then you are missing out.)

"We have created a reality of superiority and inferiority rather than one of co-creative, equality existence.”
PART TWO

I started this blog just so I can share my personal style with others.  I am constantly inspired by true individuals that are walking down the street, or through lookbook.nu, or even a freaking blue jay standing on the sidewalk.  Inspiration for me is everywhere.

I am not starting this blog with the hopes of getting free products,  the most followers, or the most likes on lookbook.  That is the least of my concern.  I don't care if I have had this blog for a year and only have 1 follower.  Hopefully I inspire them and they inspire me and we run off to a magical land where we can be amazing people.

Please feel free to leave some comments on what you think fashion-able means.  Dialogue between followers & bloggers is always appreciated.

FIN.
